Knitting Nation: Phase Seven

A commentary on the way in which humans interact with machines, global manufacturing, trade, labor, iconography and fashion – Knitting Nation is a type of performance art created by textile artist and fashion designer Liz Collins. Knitting Nation performed Phase Seven at the ICA in Boston this October and November. The video above is an interview Liz gave to Boston’s NPR Station WBUR.
Liz was one of my professors when I was at RISD and taught me how to knit on those machines used in the performance. I can’t say enough great things RISD and the professors there and the education I received – best ever, bar none.
