Last night I saw The Goat Rodeo Sessions (Yo-Yo Ma’s new group with Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile) perform on The Colbert Report. I really enjoy Yo-Yo Ma‘s music and have most of his albums on my starred Spotify list – but this is a totally new sound for him. I’m really loving the contrast between the instruments that are being played and the type of sound that results – watching Chris Thile rock out on the mandolin was pretty great to watch.
